Intermediate Level Architect / Designer

Location: San Francisco, CA

At Ryan Leidner Architecture, we design residential projects that are modern, context-driven, and defined by meticulous attention to detail. We are seeking an Intermediate Architect / Designer to join our small team and contribute directly to every stage of our projects - from concept design through construction administration. This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with the principal on a variety of custom residential projects while gaining broad experience and professional growth in a supportive, laid-back environment.

Responsibilities

As an Intermediate Architect / Designer, you will:

• Collaborate directly with the principal throughout the design process

• Prepare and participate in client presentations

• Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and external stakeholders

• Develop construction documents and manage agency approvals

• Participate in Construction Observation and Project Administration

• Contribute creative ideas and design solutions across all project phases

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates who have:

• B.Arch or M.Arch degree from an accredited program (or foreign equivalent)

• 4-7+ years of post-graduate experience, ideally in custom residential projects

• Demonstrated commitment to design excellence

• Proven experience across all design and construction phases

• Advanced proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe CS, hand sketching, physical modeling

• Advanced 3D modeling skills (Rhino preferred)

• Knowledge of industry practices, California Building Codes, and ability to conduct code research

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Ability to contribute effectively in a small team environment

• Legal authorization to work in the US and fluency in English

• Current or soon-to-be residency in the San Francisco region
